“Everything is a sketch, a record.”

The day of the critique I felt happy with my “final work”, and seeing all of the wonderful and animated chairs grouped together, I felt a stronger sense of astonishment. Being able to see the different styles of each individual artist during the first critique was so incredible, every single adaptation of the chair was different and unique to its creator. On the board side by side the drawings came to life- as a class we captured “the anthropology of the chair and its being”- and it was good.

From this project I learned essential skills by using the string theory, and I have also become familiar with my own style as an artist. The experience of drawing from a still life was frustrating at first, but gradually I grew accustomed to using plumb lines to get correct proportions and angles. Ultimately, I think that I grew as an artist in both mind and technique.
